Outside of coding, what skills are most in-demand today?

What other skills are in-demand today? I'm interested in skills that are not in the tech industry. Yet, if what's suggested is in the tech industry please present something other than coding, eg. SEO, online marketing, design. Or, is there a skill in another field that I haven't though of.


Answer: Don't chase the "in" jobs; by the time you master them, they'll be "out".

Very few skills are timeless and constantly in demand. The rare exceptions are the ones worth pouring yourself into.

If you want one of the most in-demand skill sets of all time, learn sales.

If you can sell a product well, you will never be out of a job and you'll never be short on finances. Sales as a whole is recession-proof, trend-proof, and hype-proof.

It's no coincidence that it's also one of the most difficult skill sets to really "master". But don't believe that you either "have" the sales gene or you don't.

You don't have to be a high-pressure, Wolf-of-Wall-Street sleazy salesperson to succeed in sales.

In the end, sales isn't about selling a product. It is about creating value-generating relationships that enrich the lives and businesses of both parties.
