Economist : raise zeros from the currency creates controversy economically and 30 trillion Iraqi dinars are traded in the market

Economist said that the deletion of zeros in place of the Iraqi currency to create sensation between supporters and opponents about what that might entail for the effects of the economic sector, especially the volume of currency in circulation in the Iraqi market is estimated about 30 trillion dinars.

The name Abd al-Hadi in contact with the agency, the independent press (Iba) supporters believe that lifting the zeros will create a psychological effect to the citizen through the strengthening of its currency and adopted more widely, rather than the foreign currency that is demand for it as characterized by its high value and ease of pregnancy and the difficulty of counterfeiting.

Abdul Hadi said the process of lifting the zeroes will raise the value of the currency and reduces the demand for hard currency which is distinguished by force and will lead to re-balance between the value of local and foreign currency and give it market power at home and abroad.

Abizaid and Abdul Hadi either oppose the process of lifting the zeroes believe that the dinar will lose its value and depend on the price index in the local market.

And that through the gradual rise of prices would lead to high rates of inflation, so that we lift the zeroes will increase prices and rising inflation rate and have to repeat the same process again.

Abdul-Hadi We are with the postponement of the process at this time because it will create confusion in the Iraqi market and will be charged the Central Bank of huge amounts of money through the process of drawing, printing, replacement, especially the amount of currency in circulation in the Iraqi market is currently estimated at about 30 trillion dinars compared to what it was the amount of currency on our web site in 2004, which amounted to 4 trillion dinars.

He noted that the approach to stabilize the market and the national currency will be better and more effective than replacement with a new value and other currency.

Rep. Kanna there were errors in the application of laws and a state of commitment in some of the central policy-generated reactions in Basra because of monopoly power and lack of development of vital sectors of the possibility of investment in the province compared to Kurdistan region

"We were in contact with the agency and the independent press (Iba) that the investment authorities in the provinces have the authority specified in the size of the investment projects to come beyond the validity of the National Investment Commission and if the value of investments exceeded 250 million dollars to become the prerogative of the government.

He pointed out, there are attempts to circumvent the laws and regulations which define the functioning of investment projects and guarantee the rights of provincial councils.

And that even in the House of Representatives we have seen this process by blocking approval of the law after it is submitted to the government to return to parliament and re-submitted to the government again, which led to delay adoption of the laws up to two years.

He pointed out the errors in the application of laws and a state of commitment in some of the central policy-deposits from the former regime which generated a backlash, most notably in Basra because of monopoly power by comparing the people of the province between the reality of the energy sector between Basra and the Kurdistan region.

Iraq's security situation remains the major deterrent to business: Survey

Violence, corruption and the lack of infrastructure are seen top three risks to the businesses in Iraq, according to the findings of a survey made public on Sunday.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in its survey revealed that the top three risks to business were judged to be violence 67 percent, corruption 44 percent and the lack of infrastructure 35 percent. The next three were bureaucracy, lack of contract protection and credit risk.

However, the survey finds that investor perceptions of Iraq are slowly improving, despite the country's many problems. Preliminary results from our survey of 300 executives -- all of whom have direct input into their company's decisions on doing business in the Middle East -- show that the security situation remains the major deterrent to business.

Almost two-third or 64 percent said it is still too dangerous to do business in Iraq at the present time. But more than half of those surveyed said their view of Iraq has become more positive over the past two years.

Moreover, most respondents expect the security situation for foreign executives and employees to improve over the next two years, with 46 percent saying it would improve somewhat and 9 percent saying it would improve significantly, despite the drawdown of Western troops. Just 10 percent expected it to worsen.
