These forecasts were prepared on October 26, 2009 - ZAWYA

CURRENCY ANALYSIS: The CBI has overseen a steep appreciation of the dinar over the past two years, as part of its anti-inflation strategy. However, with inflation low and the dollar strengthening, the CBI has kept the dinar steady at ID1,170:US$1 since January, and we now forecast that this unofficial peg will remain in place over the forecast period. However, with lower oil prices and occasional political shocks likely to cause intermittent downward pressure on the dinar, we expect that the CBI will occasionally have to dip into its substantial stock of foreign reserves to avoid bouts of volatility.

is the conflict between Iraq and Iran at the oil wells idle as a rallying cry for nationalist Iraqis and raised fears of a senior Iranian influence in Baghdad, according to the view, the Washington Post, Washington Post today (Saturday).

And began to struggle for the oil field Fakkah fourth in the last month when it seized an Iranian unit consisting of 11 military well the relatively small group of Maysan province near the border between the two countries. The massing of troops from the two sides are just a few meters from the well, which is among them.

The newspaper said that the incident "has aroused feelings in Iraq on two very sensitive, namely the sovereignty and oil."

Iraqi officials have begun and Iranian talks on a settlement of the conflict, but in Iraq, "the accident turned into a test of the political parties and candidates for national elections scheduled for the beginning of March next."

The paper believes that since the US-led invasion in 2003, the "growing influence of Shiite Iran in Iraq because many Iraqi leaders, who lay in the Americans initially spent years in exile in Iran, claimed the Iranian money, weapons and intelligence agents passes through the border was not the Iraqis nor the Americans be able to control it."

The newspaper that many of the Iraqis, "They say they fear that their country becomes a de facto client state of Iran when they leave the United States."

The paper said that Iraqi Sunnis and Shiites alike, "involved in these concerns."

And the Post quoted a candidate for Parliament Obaidan Awad as saying that "Black God's Brigade, a group composed of 126 clan southern Shiite majority was ready to defend Iraq's oil fields," adding, "We want to resolve this issue peacefully, it will not carry guns even if allowed to do so, but we can invitation million Iraqis from Anbar to Basra to defend against the Iranian occupation at any cost, we will defend our fields."

The head of the clan, another Shiite in the south Iranian incursion as "an insult to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war against Iran," the paper said.

But Sunni politicians were "denounced what they called a weak response to the Iraqi security forces", revealing paper also quoted the incursion "did not resist and confront the accused Iraqi forces have occurred under the influence of Iran."

The politician, Saleh al-Iraqi as reported by The Washington Post "We warned more than once a senior Iranian interference in Iraqi affairs and government officials continued to ignore this issue, saying that there is no conclusive evidence of that," and asked "Do we need more evidence than what we see today?".

The newspaper said that the political coalition that "consists mostly of Shiite Iran, an alliance blessed includes ISCI and the Sadrists, presented a more cautious assessments of the incident."

The leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar al-Hakim, "criticized the other political parties to release statements wounds and inflammatory speeches and accusations directly."

The Sadrist spokesman issued a statement "posted on the quiet stream on 30 December, 2009," pointed out that members of the mainstream "are keen to get details on this matter," the paper said.

The statement concluded that the Iranians are "wrong," noting that the case turned into a "propaganda campaign", as The Washington Post.

The Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who "struggled to balance its relationship with Iran," the paper said, has "denounced the incursion into Iran after 10 days of the occurrence and announced that the Iranians would not get a single drop of Iraqi oil, or one meter from the Iraqi territory," he continued paper.

The newspaper quoted Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh, as saying that the Iranians "did not return to their previous Gestnahm to withdraw completely beyond our borders, but they did not respond."

The newspaper pointed out that the United States "has spent $ 1.1 billion (about 1298 billion dinars) to the security of the Iraqi border since 2003, according to military officials," She said the American exit strategy "includes supply Iraq with weapons and a new control system within the aircraft and to enable Iraq to defend the same against Iran and other regional threats."

Gen. David Petraeus, U.S. Central Command chief, the paper said that the United States "supports the Iraqi government's efforts in resolving the issue through dialogue."

The Iranians had declared that the incident a "misunderstanding", having initially denied its occurrence.

The newspaper said that it "did not stop the Iraqis from the perception of theories about the motives and long-hidden plots".

He says some Iraqis that the Americans "have allowed the Iranians to access to the oil field as a gift, while others insist on saying that the Iraqi government and dictate from Tehran decided to give the oil to Iran."

Whatever the motives, as I noted the Washington Post, "It seems that anger is directed to other intractable issue for Iraq."

Dabbagh said that this "is not an issue to resolve a dispute, we are very sure that it is our land, we have proof that it is our land", and concluded the paper.
