Question New Government Shake-up Or Re-alinement Of Political Parties Within Weeks But No Coup

I have pieced together the following out of news stories in the past several days...they seem to be leading to a dramtic change in the political structure and operation(s) of the Iraqi Government...

With the Parliament's outright rejection of Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's new cabinet today and in the below highlighted news text it becomes clear that we might be seeng the first stages of an American and Arab States sponsoring NOT A COUP but rather a new parliamentry coalition that Mr Allawi with a his new majority coalition (Unity Government) will play a major role and thus bring stability and progress on the major, unresolved issues...

Amir al-Tamimi, a member of the Arab League's Supreme Commission for National Reconciliation, as saying, "A large Iraqi political bloc that aims to rectify the political process and resolve the governing crisis will see the light of day in the next few days."

"...the Iraqi people have reached a state of despair because of the stumbling political process and the Iraqi government, which the newspaper said does not know how to respond to the challenges facing Iraqis...."

Allawi, the leader of the slate, as saying, "The front we are talking about is inside and outside the parliament at the same time." Allawi called on Iraqi politicians of all colors to take part in the Iraqi national project.

Baghdad newspaper, published a statement made by Allawi in which he stated, "We previously submitted a working paper to the U.S. administration, which was also examined by Arab leaders, suggesting the convening of a regional conference in Egypt."

the Kurdish al-Taakhi newspaper quoted Iraqi President Jalal al-Talabani as asserting the government's determination to achieve real national reconciliation and unity within two weeks or a month. "It is an important step that will encourage all Iraqis to be involved in the political process and to isolate al-Qaeda," the newspaper wrote.

MP Mahmoud Othman from the Kurdistan Alliance as indicating that forming a wide parliamentary bloc of moderate political parties is once again under discussion. "The United States is urging political blocs to form political groups in an attempt to find an early solution to the problems facing Iraq,"

The Iraqi Accord Front is posed to make "significant" decisions on several choices in few days' time, Iraqi Vice-President Tariq al-Hashemi said on Saturday, expressing optimism on "the new political scene in the country." During an extraordinary meeting for the Front held today, Al-Hashemi reviewed the results of his meetings with the Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and other officials over the past few days.

"The Iraqi Accord Front has few days to make important decision over many choices tabled before it. Priority will be given to dialogue" Al-Hashemi told the meeting "These decisions will be significant and will hit the deep roots of the political process, but not at all to rise to the level of a coup as the rumor goes." Al-Hashemi, however, did not reveal the nature of such decisions, nor the tendencies of the Front, one of the biggest in Iraqi parliament.

The Iraqi Vice-President had last week ended a weeks long boycott with Al-Maliki when he visited the Premier in his office in Baghdad coinciding with a phone call from US president George Bush and Al-Maliki. This was a day before the visit by the US Vice President Dick Cheney to Baghdad.

    What does all this mean?

The Americans and the Iraqis are tired of stalement, violence and poverity and it would seem that if Al-Maliki Administration's days are numbered and that the new savor will be the creation of the Unity Party that will act upon the pressing issues and who is offering to meet the American Benchmarks.

    WILL IT HAPPEN?

Who knows...the buzz is there...We have burnt Allawi about six weeks ago by giving him the green light to have those meetings with the Arab Leaders about forming a new government...then we pulled the plug by reconfirming our support for Al-Maliki after he moverd on the HCL Law...(so we thought?)

Only the next two weeks will tell if this is serious or if we are putting the flame to Al-Miliki's feet to get the bills passed and the economy jumpstarted...

    FOR CONCERNED INVESTORS

Actually this could and it would speed up the process of events that could or should lead to an RV...As this is not covered in the information presented above BUT (IMO) anything that stabilizes Iraq and gets movement on the major bills that need to be passed is a good thing for our investment...

Thanks Fred. You've put a lot of thought into that piece. Anything to speed up our little investment would be a good thing - here's hoping.

Your sarcasm is not needed...take the time to read what his thoughts have compiled or move on...no need for the comment.

In regards to the actual post.

Excellent post and well thought out. I appreciate you taking the time to compile this.
    I just need $1.47.

I personally did not have time to read everything and there was no intentional scarcasm. I wanted to get the thread going because I liked the post. His post was rolling down the forum with a big "0" replies, so, I gave it a bump. Now, I have read it. I'm just really busy. Sorry to the author if you took it the wrong way.
