U.S. Retail Sales Down 1.5% in January versus December; National chain store sales fell 1.5% in January, according to Redbook researchers; analysts expected a 1.2% drop; Redbook Index showed seasonally adjusted sales was up 1% this quarter from the same period last year; Redbook forecasted year-over-year same-store growth of 1% and a month-over-month increase of 0.9% in February; sales for the week were up 0.8% from a year earlier.

Pending Home Sales from National Association of Realtors [NAR]:
U.S. Pending Home Sales Index rose 1.0% to 96.6 in December; U.S. December Pending Home Sales rose 10.9% from December 2008.
