Most people have heard about back masking, and I am NOT talking about that or going down that route

There is an organisation in Australia that has been researching "Reverse Speech" and apparently everyone is doing it all the time whether they like it or not.

In a nut shell, (from the site) If human speech is recorded and played backwards, mixed amongst the gibberish at regular intervals can be heard very clear statements. These statements usually appear in short sentence form and are nearly always related to the forward speech. It appears constantly throughout language, so much so in fact, that it is believed to be a natural part of our speech processes.

The pioneer and 20 year veteran of this field, Australian David John Oates, describes Reverse Speech as another form of human communication. He states that language is bi-level, forward and reverse. As the human brain constructs the sounds of speech, it forms those sounds in such a way that two messages are delivered simultaneously. One forwards, which is the conscious mind speaking, and the other in reverse, which is the unconscious mind speaking.

We compiled backward messages from both music and speech and found many common trends, most principally the fact that these backward messages usually related to what was spoken forwards. We found that if a lie was spoken in forward speech, the backwards speech would often correct that lie and speak the truth instead. Additionally, we found that if pertinent facts were left out of the forward speech, the backward speech would often put them in. We also noted that the backward messages occurred approximately once every 15-20 seconds of normal relaxed conversation and less often in a public speech, maybe once every 60-90 seconds.

Although still a new and emerging field, Reverse Speech is already making its mark felt in many areas. It has been used successfully in business negotiations and corporate mergers as means of providing extra information. In the state of Oregon, it has been used in criminal investigation and its results independently verified by DNA testing in one case.

Reverse Speech has now come back to Australia, where it was initially discovered. Play any sound recordings of the speakers at the PIPS Hawaii conference and find out whats being said in reverse, it could be revealing, it could put a few minds at ease, it could do the reverse (no pun intended).

Does this apply to all languages? With the english language you can drop a letter off here and there and still make sens with the riten word, if yu see wat I mean :). An exercise for Yogi perhaps but I think he has already reached such exaltered heights to surpass any understanding, forwards or backwards :)
