    Cash For Clunkers

    U.S. government started the "cash for clunkers" program to try to help stimulate the economy and the auto market, and experts are believing it is starting to work. (read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

    Economic data released today:
    Core PCE Price Index:
    June PCE Core Price Index +0.2% rate on month; +1.5% on year; June PCE Price Index +0.5% rate on month; -0.4% on year.

    Personal Spending:
    May Personal Income Revised To +1.3% from +1.4%; May Spending Revised to +0.1% from +0.3%.

    Personal Income:
    U.S. Personal Income fell 1.3% In June compared to consensus of a decrease by 1.2%; U.S. Personal Spending rose 0.4% in June compared to consensus of an increase by 0.3.

    Pending Home Sales from National Association of Realtors:
    U.S. Pending Home Sales Index rose 3.6% to 94.6 in june; U.S. June Pending Home Sales rose 6.7% from June 2008; Pending Sales up 5 times in a row; streak longest in 6 years.

    I'm not that positive on the cash for clunkers. Think it was clunkers for clunkers.

    In a few more years the cars will be better. One should hold on to clunkers as long as you can. Drive a car till it dies. Personally I don't think killing them off prematurely is ethical.
