    Daily Market Commentary for January 9, 2009 from Millennium-Traders.Com

    Economic data released today:

    Employment Situation:
    U.S. December Nonfarm Payrolls fell by 524K compared to consensus of a drop by 525K; U.S. December Unemployment Rate 7.2% compared to consensus of 7.0%; U.S. December Average Hourly Earnings increased by $0.05 to $18.36; U.S. December Manufacturing Payrolls fell by 149K; U.S. December Service-Producing Payrolls fell by 273K; U.S. December Overall Workweek fell by 0.2 Hour to 33.3 Hours; U.S. November Payrolls Revised to a drop by 584K from drop by 533K; U.S. November Unemployment Revised to 6.8% from 6.7%; U.S. December Unemployment Rate Highest since January 1993; U.S. Lost 2.6 Million Jobs in 2008 which is the most since 1945.

    Wholesale Trade:
    U.S. November Wholesale Inventories fell by 0.6% compared to expectations of a drop by 0.8%.

    Big companies cant get the loans they used to and are playing it safe, this trickles to the smaller companies that work for or get supplies from them, which then affects the majority of jobs. This is part of why republicans want to give them tax breaks, but there is currently way to much corruption for this to work, which is why democrats want to give the people tax breaks. The idea is to stimulate the market by giving people more money... hopefully revitalizing our market and banks will become willing to give loans.
