A recession is a contraction phase of the business cycle. The U.S. based National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) defines a recession more broadly as "a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales".

    Default Economic Recession

On Black Monday of October 1987 a stock collapse of unprecedented size lopped 22.6 percent off the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The collapse, larger than that of 1929, was handled well by the economy and the stock market began to quickly recover. However the lumbering savings and loans were beginning to collapse, putting the savings of millions of Americans in jeopardy.

A Recession is a Healthy Phase in an economy it helps keep prices and expansion in check unless unnaturally manipulated by the government. A Recession whether big or small is always inevitable. It Seems as though the Treasury is going to make sure that we squeeze every last bit of market sustainabilty out of the broad stock market with this recent interest rate decrease. The have very little fuel left to throw on this fire.
