    Default Electric Motor Types

Practical direct current (DC) motors were invented in the early 19th century following experiments by Michael Faraday and others. DC motors continued to be improved upon along with DC generators to the time of Thomas Edison's first power plant and DC power distribution system in 1882.
This was not a practical solution for the electrification of the United States however because of the large conductors required to transmit the low voltage power from the power plant to the customer.

AC motors generally fall into one of two categories, synchronous or asynchronous types. Synchronous motors synchronised with the frequency of AC asynchronous motors and operate at a slightly slower speed than the synchronous speed.

    Hello,

An electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction of magnetic fields and current carrying conductors to generate force. The reverse process, producing electrical energy from mechanical energy, is done by generators such as an alternator or a dynamo; some electric motors can also be used as generators.

AC motors typically one of two categories, indulge in a synchronous or asynchronous types. Synchronous speed of an asynchronous motor is running at a speed slightly slower than the synchronous motor, while the frequency of the alternating current can be synchronized.
