Hello to everyone. My name is Jens Johansson and you do not know me, so let me introduce myself. I used to work as part of the original team that was in charge of the IceGold OU company ( one of the first electronic currencies exchangers in Europe ). As you all know, IceGold was forced to shut down its business endeavors in Estonia in 2008, due to the adoption of new anti money-laundering laws, that required every exchange to be done face to face with the customer, for identification purposes.
Back then, when this came in force, the whole team sat down and started a discussion on whether we could circumvent the inevitable. The situation was crystal clear though - there was no way around that. We had to cease operation.
That is when, in one of our heated debates, the team split up into two parts. One of them decided that IceGold was done ( at least for the time being ), and headed on to venture into other business endeavors. However, the other part of the team, myself included, reached the conclusion that we could revive the IceGold activity, if we move our operations abroad.
That would require a lot of work, dedication, and effort, so we had to start rightaway. We reviewed our list of possible choices and it was Panama that caught our attention for a suitable spot. It took us more than a year, but we finally managed to transfer over to the lovely capital of Panama ( Panama City ), hire a new office, refurnish it, and set up everything that is necessary to start over with IceGold.
So, let me welcome you to the new beginning of IceGold in the face of IceGold LLC ( Panama ). Since Mati Malsub, our former technical manager, remained a steady part of the other team, and decided to remain in Estonia, we had to part ways with him too. However, in the course of our preparations, we had to contact him and asked him to submit the credentials, necessary to run the website of the former IceGold (
http://www.icegold.com ). We came to realize that Mati, however, seemed to be unwilling to pass over the authority over the website, stating, I quote: "We might need it some time in the future."
That is why we had to set up a new website, with a new domain name to reflect our business decision to revive IceGold. And here it is, all ready, and good to go -
http://www.icegold.us. This, from now on, will be the face of former IceGold ( present IceGold LLC, Panama ). We decided to keep the original website design, so as to remind our pool of customers what we used to be in the past. We, clearly, had to implement the exchange of new e-currencies, instead of the obsolete and rather problematic e-gold. A lot has changed since 2008, and so, now you have the option of exchanging Liberty Reserve and Perfect Money for a bank wire, and vice versa. Inter-related exchanges are still not an option, but we are working on implementing automated exchanges between the two e-currencies, as we speak. We will also allow for Western Union fundings to be used in the near future, both for in- and out-exchanges.
Our business hours are scheduled to be, as follows:
Monday to Friday:
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Panamanian time ( UTC/GMT -5 hours )
First day of operation - starting tomorrow, 24th August. The website, however, is already online, so feel free to have a look around. Any new orders that come in, will be processed first thing tomorrow morning.
