Financial returns
Investment returns are seen in two ways
1. Dividends
Over the investment term dividends are paid through commercial 'thinning'. We will extract some of the weaker trees to allow the effective development of the better quality trees. Not only does this pay dividends throughout the term, but is important to the overall performance as it can increase the final return at harvest by anywhere between 1-3%.
2. Harvest
This is where we commercially extract the trees and sell on the lumber.

Thanks for the information regarding Greenwood, there was an article about this company a while back in the Sunday business post. They are quite a large company that specialize in forestry investments (primarily Eucalyptus, Acacia etc). looking at there website the structure of the investment vehicle looks reasonably sound. I understand that you can invest for about 7,500 euros and this will get you an investment of over 2.5 hectares of Eucalyptus (1660 trees per hectare). Forestry investment has been promoted quite a lot in the press recently and there are a few other companies that offer similar products on the market.
