I am here to provide some news to all GPI members. I am one of two europeans working on GPI team.
Last monday, on early hours of GMT day, GPI team member you were used to call “admin” was arrested in his country accused of trading counterfeit products (completely false as far as I know). Also all his accounts and warehouses were seized. At this moment he still not released.
Site self destruct and activated maintenance message because, some time ago, we decided to put there a script, running hourly, to check if admin logged in on last 12 hours (on week days or 24 on weekends). This is a security measure created to deal with multiple situations but with a main purpose: we can be sure that our team and all members will have their privacy 100% protected. When last monday admin was arrested and stopped using site time starts counting until site shutdown.
Script sent a database copy to several mail boxes (one of them mine) and erased everything related to site on server. This ensures that everything is protected but can surely be rebuilt if needed.
I was on road (my work is to sell on Europe everything that other members were able to send from Asia) and it took me some time to notice site was down and to be able to get some information about what was the problem and, after that, get all security accesses.
What next?
I really don’t know. I am traveling to Asia with the other european member of GPI team next few hours. We will meet with all members able to reach us. Then we will try to evaluate all situations and assets. But it looks really bad.
Last weeks our project suffers several failures.
First our Myanmar member disappeared. He, his family, his small trading corporation, all warehouses and products are missing until today. As far as we were able to verify there was not any kind of misbehavior involved – there was a true natural disaster consequence and probably he and his family were victims of natural events.
Second our Chinese operation was literally converted to dust. We had two factories there with a lease contract working with exclusive production to our venture. Two of our members were there as supervising operation managers. We lost operation, with goods and factory capacity but luckily this time without any personal loses on team.
This third strike this week was deadly and brings us to floor.
We are suspending all online operation until further notice. All arrangements were done to protect your privacy and no one can be in any way involved in any kind of trouble for participating in our project.
